Over time, he worked for Gilby, BRM, John Wyer, Surtees, Leda and Viking.

Made his WRC debut in 1989. Drove for the works Skoda team on the 1999 Rally GB, co-driven by Stephane Prevot. 

Thomas, Bryan (GB)

An architectural technician as well as a rallying co-driver. He started in 1978 on night road rallies, starting special stage events in 1981 with Roger Chilman. They entered the British Rally Championship until Roger retired in 1985. In late 1986 Thomas paired up with privateer Phil Collins, and they contested the 1987 and 1988 British Open Championships. In 1991 Thomas paired up with Mika Sohlberg, winning Group N in the British championship. He also worked with Ford, making gravel notes for the world rally championship crews. 

He was asked to co-drive for Malcolm Wilson in 1992, and he signed a three year contract with Ford, winning the 1994 British Rally Championship. He joined up with Robbie Head in his Renault Megane for 1996 and 1997, and Mark Higgins in 1998.

Crashed on the first lap of a Scratch race for Vintage Sports Cars at Cadwell Park, hitting a marshals post in his Lagonda Rapier. He was pronounced dead on the way to the Princess Diana of Wales Hospital in Grimsby. Thompson was a toolmaker by profession,and joined the Rapier Register in 1964. He is survived by his wife Brenda, his son Leon and his daughter Simone.
