The History of Motorsport before World War I

This is my attempt at a book. Not wishing to publish this in printed book form (I don't want the aggravation, and it would require a lot of effort on my part to make it of sufficient quality in presentation terms, and that's not what I'm good at), I am making it freely available here for download. The only thing that I ask is that if you have any original material which may be of use, that you make it available to me so that I may improve the contents. This includes, for example, pictures, newspaper cuttings or extracts or personal recollections. I can be contacted at Darren.Galpin@virgin.net.

Note that this book is in development, and will change as I collect more information. The tagging has been sorted out since the first release. In future I may well split out the sections so that the download size is smaller. The original Word document is commented with the sources, and I can make the sources known if requested.

You know how it is. You start one thing, find something else, get sidetracked, and suddenly you have a whole new research project. While researching for the original work covering the period up to World War I, I kept uncovering other bits and pieces, and rather than discard them, I recorded them. These and more are covered in the following documents, which cover racing not covered elsewhere on this website.
